DCE ENGAGES FARMERS AT ASANTEKROM ON COCOA REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

The Hon. District Chief Executive ,Mr Yawson Amoah on Wednesday, 3rd November 2021, attended the Cocoa Rehabilitation programme at Asantekrom in the Nsawora Area council of the Sefwi Akontombra District Assembly.

The programme which was organised by COCOBOD was graced by The Chief of Akontombra , Nana Kwabena Ebie II . Also in attendance were the Chief of Edumafua, Nana Asanpong, representatives from COCOBOD and farmers within the community.

In his speech, the DCE highlighted the numerous programmes introduced by the government to revamp cocoa production in the country.

He mentioned the free distribution of cocoa seedlings, engagement of laborers to facilitate the planting of seedlings and the compensation of GHS 1000.00 to both farmers and chiefs for every hectare of farm to be cut as some of the measures employed to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.

The DCE reaffirmed his commitment to support the CHED on the project and encouraged farmers to embrace the opportunity to develop cocoa production as well as better their livelihoods.
