SEFWI AKONTOMBRA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

GREEN GHANA DAY LAUNCHED IN SEFWI AKONTOMBRA

Following the launch of the Green Ghana Programme held at the national level by H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to mark this year’s International day of forest, the Sefwi Akontombra District Assembly on its part organised a colourful durbar of chiefs and the general public to commemorate the day.

The event which was held on Friday, 11th of June, 2021 at Akontombra Senior High School Park was graced by the Hon. District Chief Executive, Mr. Yawson Amoah, Hon Alex Tetteh, Member of parliament for Sefwi Akontombra District, Chief of Sefwi Akontombra Nana Ebie II, Clergy, Reps from Forestry Commission, various Heads of Departments/Units and agencies general public.

HON. ALEX TETTEH DJORNORBUAH ADDRESSING THE OCCASSION

The Hon. MP, Alex Tetteh reiterated Government Commitment to safeguard the forest and ecosystem. He bemoaned the current state the Sefwi Akontombra District was fast losing its forest coverage due to human activities. He admonished the people to support this initiative in quest to protect the forests within the enclave.

HON. YAWSON AMOAH ADDRESSING THE OCCASSION

Addressing the gathering at the Durbar ground, The Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Yawson Amoah indicated that under Green Ghana initiative, total number of five million trees were expected to be planted in a single day across Ghana to which Sefwi Akontombra District would also plant some trees seedlings.

He stated that the programmes forms part of the Government effort to encourage Ghanaians to plant more trees to preserve and protect Ghana’s forest cover and the environment.

He made a passionate appeal to the people to support the District Committee for Green Ghana and Government quest to safeguard the forest and ecosystem.

NANA EBIE II, CHEIF OF SEFWI AKONTOMBRA, ADDRESSING THE OCCASSION

The Chairman for the occasion Nana EBIE II, who is also the Chief of Sefwi Akontombra commended the Government for launching this initiative and admonished the people to rally behind the Government to achieve its goal of safeguarding Ghana’s forest cover and the environment.
