SEFWI AKONTOMBRA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

SEFWI AKONTOMBRA DCE HAS PERFORMED BETTER – CONCERNED YOUTH OF AKONTOMBRA

When the wind of changes blew in the 2016 general elections, Sefwi Akontombra was not left out. The electoral fortunes of the New Patriotic Party were anchored on an independent candidate who once served as the first Member of Parliament when Sefwi Akontombra was calved out of Sefwi Wiawso District/Constituency.

In fact and indeed, many political pundits never thought that in spite of the wind of change in 2016, NPP could whisk away the Akontombra seat from the hands of the National Democratic Congress in 2020 having regard to how long the NDC clinched on to that particular seat in time past.

It became apparent that the very mistake NDC committed in 2016 general elections actually paved way for Alex Tetteh and his team. The records will also show that Sefwi Akontombra was one of the typical zones which provided NDC an easy navigating path. It was a typical NDC base with consistent dynamics. Today, with the excellent performance of the incumbent MP, the DCE and Party Executives in the Constituency, the NPP can confidently boast without shred or iota of doubt that, Akontombra is an NPP safe seat properly so described.

It is instructive to point out that, in 2016 general elections, the split of votes in the camp of the NDC was particularly the reason why the incumbent Member of Parliament whose mandate has been renewed by the electorate to serve his people for the second term in Parliament was able to win with Two hundred and Ninety-Six(296) votes difference.

This actually painted a clear picture that, NDC only needed a united front to snatch the seat from the NPP in the just-ended elections. The New Patriotic Party was scared going into the battle having in mind the herculean nature of the task in view of the fact that, the NDC only needed a single candidate from their camp to win the election.

Let it also be known that, for the first time in the history of politics in Sefwi Akontombra, the New Patriotic Party was able to win in Sefwi Nzawora which has six polling stations.

Suffice it to say that, winning 90% of polling stations in Sefwi Akontombra can not be attributed to any Abracadabra. The attribution, therefore, can only be as a result of hard work and selfless dedication on the part of the MP, his DCE and party executives.

Even in Sefwi Asanteman which happens to be the hometown of the long-serving District Chief Executive, Mr Peter Nkuah, the New Patriotic Party fought the odds and won in the said polling station.

The good people of Sefwi Ackaahkrom, Kwadwokrom, Kofikrom, Wansampo, Nyameadiso, Attakrom, Agyeman Camp, Obengkrom, Asantekrom, Asiakrom, Mireku, Bronikrom, Kabiesue, Yamfo, Tanokrom, Kwadwobikrom, Kolbas (A) and Kramokrom (B), for the first time, voted massively for the New Patriotic Party. It is a matter of incontrovertible fact that the just ended general elections actually recorded an overwhelming endorsement of the NPP in the Constituency with our Member of Parliament winning with a vote difference of 3423 which in all honesty, is the first to have happened in the history of politics in Sefwi Akontombra Constituency.

It is worth sharing that, through the combined efforts of the MP and the DCE, NPP also won the Presidential election in the Constituency for the first time in the democratical history of the Country.

It is worth noting and also worth praising that, one particular person who cannot be left out in this moment of merrymaking is the current District Chief Executive, Mr Yawson Amoah.

It is a matter of principle that, in the era where some DCEs have become target particularly in respect of how abysmally we performed at the parliamentary level, there is actually the need in praising DCEs who actually performed creditably well in their line of distinct duties to the people at the local level.

The success of the government at the local level respectfully depends heavily on the effective performance of DCEs appointed by him. This truism is the fundamental reason why, we are of the view that Honorable Yawson Amoah, the current District Chief Executive must be rewarded for effectively steering the affairs of the Akufo Addo’s government in Sefwi Akontombra with his able Member of Parliament, Mr Alex Tetteh.

Mr Yawson Amoah’s cordial relationship with the Member of Parliament, Nana Sompahene Alex Djornobuah Tetteh and the party structure in Sefwi Akontombra Constituency culminated in the unquestionable success of the NPP in the just ended general elections both at the parliamentary and presidential level.

We the concerned youth are of the firm conviction that, the only way he could be rewarded for his unflinching support in consolidating our gains is when he is retained as the Chief Executive to continue his good works.

The very spirit which informed the decision of the ordinary Ghanaian to renew the mandate of the New Patriotic Party gives us hope in clear conscience that, the appointing authority will also be motivated by same to give four more years to Hon. Yawson Amoah to do more for the grassroots.

Thank You
