SEFWI AKONTOMBRA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ENGAGES RESIDENTS ON THE GHANA SAFETY NET PROJECT 2

The Sefwi Akontombra District Assembly on Monday, 23rd and Tuesday, 24th January 2023, embarked on a community engagement exercise on the Ghana Productive Safety Net Projects 2.
The initiative, funded by the World Bank, comes on the back of efforts by government to improve Local Economic Development in less endowed Districts and at the same time providing employment to the teeming youth.
The communities were briefed on opportunities available that they could leverage on to improve their livelihood through the programme.
The team, led by the Hon. DCE, Mr. Yawson Amoah highlighted the benefits associated with the project and urged participants to support the initiative to boost socio economic development in their communities.
Key issues discussed were;

  1. Type of Plantation (demand-driven basis)
  2. Land acquisition
  3. Percentage benefits to stakeholders
  4. Selection of facilitators and other workforce for the programme.
    The Hon. DCE was accompanied by Mr. Richard Dela Darkey (the District Coordinating Director), Miss Eunice Ennin (the District Development Planning Officer) and Mr Gabriel Mordzifa Akwetey (Ag District Director of Agriculture), Mr Paul Nkrumah (Ag Head of Works, District Works Department) and Mr Graham Okpoti Aryeh (District Information Officer).
    Among communities visited were Nsawora-Edumufua, Kramokrom, Kofikrom, Yawkrom and Akontombra.
