On Thursday, 29th April 2021, the Sefwi Akontombra District Assembly held its first Ordinary meeting for the year. The meeting which was the second session of the fourth Assembly was held at the Methodist church auditorium, Akontombra.
The meeting began at 10:45 am and was presided by Honorable Isaac Entsie. It was graced by twenty-four (24) Assembly Members including the Honorable District Chief Executive, Mr. Yawson Amoah and the Honorable Member of Parliament for the constituency, Mr. Alex D. Tetteh. Also in attendance were various Heads of Departments/ Units and Agencies, Traditional Authorities, Clergy and Staff of the District Assembly.
In his address to the House, the Hon. MP expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him and the NPP Government by reelecting them in the 2020 General Elections. He urged members to bond once again after the elections by contributing meaningfully towards the development of the District.
He used the platform to reaffirm his commitment and also to solicit for member’s cooperation towards the completion of all on- going projects including roads, Health and educational facilities, and the improvement of sanitation.
In conclusion, Hon. Alex Tetteh charged the District Assembly to improve its revenue generation strategies to prevent the over dependence of the DACF to undertake major developments projects.
The Hon. DCE delivering his sessional address, used the platform to introduce to the House the new District Coordinating Director in the person of Mr. Gabriel Adjargo. The address touched on various sectors including sanitation, security, job creation, education, health, finance and revenue, District Assembly direct projects, and prospects for the year 2021.
Mr. Yawson Amoah reassured members to work feverishly with management to address all concerns raised at the meeting as soon as possible. He solicited for member’s cooperation to enable him champion the development goal of the District.
The Presiding member in his closing remarks, thanked members for their fruitful contribution during the meeting and urged all tasked with assignments to work diligently towards the development goal. The meeting ended at 3:45pm.
